Charlie Hunnam, the actor who famously withdrew from the role of Christian Grey has spoken out about his replacement in the on-going saga that is Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
Charlie is reported as stating that he doesn’t know Jamie’s previous work but that he knows Sam Taylor-Wood, the British director of the movie and that he is sure Jamie will make an excellent Christian Grey.
Jamie Dornan is an Irish actor who was cast after Charlie’s shock withdrawal three weeks after the long-awaited announcement in September. The withdrawal came as a blow to the movie producers and directors after the fans went into meltdown over the casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson. Over 80,000 fans formed an online petition against the casting of Dakota and Charlie.
Jamie Dornan is a singer also and has formerly been a Calvin Klein underwear model and is the former partner of Kiera Knightly, she of Bend it like Beckham fame where she played one of the leads in the British production. Jamie was also the lead character in the British BBC2 production of The Fall, where he played a serial killer who targeted women. In this summer smash in the UK, Jamie played a disturbed man who was happily married to a nurse yet he went on the rampage and targeted young professional women.
Jamie is relatively unknown in terms of Hollywood and while the movie has been dogged with problems such as delays in filming and a release date that has been postponed until Valentine’s Day weekend in 2015, Jamie’s casting seems to have gone down well in comparison to Charlie’s initial announcement.
Shooting is due to begin on December 2nd in Vancouver, Canada. Initially planned for the beginning of November, this setback has resulted in the delay of the original release date for the movie. Still, there’s hope there is some movement now and we can now look forward to the movie going ahead despite the fact that we have to wait six months to see it. The movie is set to be screened first in US cinemas so the rest of us will have to wait.
Jamie’s days as model with Calvin Klein showed him working alongside models such as Kate Moss and Eva Mendes. Saucy shots can be found of Jamie modelling the famous Calvin Klein underwear and this appears to have done down well the army of Christian Grey fans. Seemingly, Charlie’s tough guy image didn’t fit the mold of the sexy Christian Grey. Jamie and his easy-on-the-eye modelling pictures have appealed to Christian’s legendary female fans. It’s easy to see why too, the man is very easy on the eye and we agree with Charlie, he will make an excellent Christian Grey.
Jamie Dornan auditions for Fifty Shades lead role
Jamie is one of 5 actors being considered for the role of Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of grey the Movie. Along with Clint eastwoods Son Scott eastwood. Jamie is auditioning to replace Son’s of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam who dropped a bomshell when he decided to drop out of playing Christian. Jamie is 31 years old and leading actor amongst the other contenders for the role. We will need to wait a bit longer to find out and see which actor has the potential Chemistry with Anastasia Steele to be played by Dakota Johnson
On September 2nd it was announced that Charlie Hunnam would be playing Christian Grey. On September 10th the sixth season of FX’s television drama was released, Sons of Anarchy. Viewing figures for the sixth season have increased as the lead role is played by Charlie Hunnam.
Charlie plays Jackxon “Jax” Teller who at the opening of the series is the vice-president of an outlaw motor-cycle club who begins to question his role in the club and his life. Jax has a number of tattoos on his body and his arms featuring the names of his sons. He became President of the motor-cycle club as his father was the founding member.
Jax has a genetic heart disorder that his younger brother died from at the age of six. Jax has a criminal history and is a former prisoner. The character has had various brushes with the law. He divorces his wife was because she couldn’t remain clean from her drug addiction. She subsequently beats her drug addiction for a short period of time and Jax reconciles with his wife. They have a son who is born addicted to a substance. Jax leaves his wife and subsequently marries a childhood sweetheart who he has a second son with.
Jax’s father founded the original club and once his father died, Jax’s mother remarries and her second husband becomes the president of the club. On finding the original manifesto of the club written by his father, Jax begins to question the club’s handling and direction and this causes friction between him and his stepfather and divides the clubs’ members.
Throughout the series, Jax’s troubled private life is entangled with women. Prison has featured throughout many of the episodes with Jax a frequent resident of the jail system. The character has a profound goodness about him which attracts the viewers. Jax gets into trouble because he’s trying to do good and he tugs at the heart strings of the viewers with his own demons and his battles in his love life. Jax characterizes a young man who is trying to uphold his father’s club but is in constant conflict with himself over the women in his life.
The drama has attracted positive critique and Charlie’s character has been named as one of TV’s best dads. It was the birth of his son, Abel that enabled him to begin to question his life and what direction it was going in. Finding the writings of his father had such an emotional impact on him that he began to focus on his family yet somehow all the right he tried to do always landed him in trouble.
Charlie plays a fascinating character pulled apart by the women in his life, torn apart by the birth of his first son who suffered a chemically-poisoned start in his life due to his drug-addicted mother. Charlie depicts this character well and the show has been a huge success since its launch in 2008. I’ve no doubt series six will be a huge hit with Charlie now that he’s going on to play Christian Grey.
Now we know who’s to play Christian Grey in the upcoming movie, let’s take a closer look at Christian Grey as a character. We meet him at the age of 27-years old and like any character in a book, he’s more than one-dimensional.
If we look deeply enough, there are two Christians. There’s the BDSM Christian and then there is the professional Christian. Grey Enterprises works hard and provides food aid to developing countries. This gives him a moral string to his bow and it’s likely this moral side appeals to Anastasia who has a deep intelligence of world affairs and is quite “current” in her deliverance of her deeper character.
The BDSM side of Christian likes to “hurt” women and to see their pain. It’s not his money that attracts Anastasia, it’s what his money shows him to be and that’s a good man underneath all that bravado. We could liken Christian to a couple of other movie characters. Take Edward for example in Pretty Woman. Very wealthy, very unavailable in emotional terms, yet also offers a contract for services in exchange for money. This is serving their physical needs and leaves both men not to have to face their emotional side and show any feelings. Yet both women without trying begin to chip away at these frozen islands and what happens? Both men fall in love with the women. While the stories are very different, the male characters eventually come to realize that they are capable of love. It surely highlights that attraction doesn’t offer a choice, when it happens, it happens.
There are so many similarities between Edward and Christian. Both buy and sell companies, both of them build ships, both splash out endless amounts of cash on clothes, private jets and shopping trips. Both men begin to soften and show some emotion as the story progresses. Those of you who have watched Pretty Woman cannot fail to forget the scenes of the normally immaculately dressed Edward, walking around in circles in his bare feet enjoying the simple, wonderful feeling of grass under his feet. 24-years after the release of the movie, I can still remember that scene.
Christian Grey is an entrepreneur of the social kind. He does good through social enterprising and providing the lesser off than him, not individuals but whole countries with the labors of his hard work. These are borne through innovation and enterprise. Edward is a 20th century tycoon on which the likes of Christian Grey have looked up and felt inspired by. Christian doesn’t have to take his socks off to feel what’s around him as Edward did in the previous century; Christian’s whole company is based on the wholesome fat of the land. Christina represents the social entrepreneur of the 21st century in many ways who drive us all to see the better good in ourselves and enables us to help those developing nations to provide for themselves and to sustain their families.
Edward by comparison, saves companies and those employees who would be affected by such closures and dismantling of said companies. Christian Grey and Edward are far apart in terms of centuries. But the overriding sense of both men is the same.
The very part of both men and this must be highlighted, is that both men are humanized by the woman they initially wanted for physical gratification.
In layman’s terms, they both fell in love…
Christian Grey has spoken – oh he has and his alter ego, Charlie Hunnam, the most talked about actor in the movie world right now, has reportedly opened his mouth about his forthcoming role.
He was collared on the red carpet at the movie premiere of Sons of Anarchy and stated:
“Tangible chemistry between him and Dakota”
Thank goodness for that. He’s a bloke, he’s good looking, he’s a bad boy and he’s playing Christian Grey. We love the tantalizing prospect of Charlie getting down and dirty with cable ties.
Charlie has stated that as soon as he got in the room with Dakota (Anastasia Steele) to do the read, he knew he wanted to do it as the chemistry was so good. Now, if that’s not knicker-ripping talk, I don’t know what is.
Exciting, compelling, fun and weird, were the words uttered by Charlie. Frankly, if that doesn’t describe Christian Grey in four adjectives, I don’t know what does.
His girlfriend, jewelry designer, Morgana McNeils, he claimed was concerned about sharing parts of him that she wouldn’t normally want to share, but that she loved the books. Well, considering he will be well-paid for the project, I’m sure she won’t t be too bothered, although it cannot be easy, even though it’s “only acting” I can’t quite see Jennifer Aniston feeling as generous about such a situation given what happened to her marriage when hubby ran off with Ms Jolie after Mr & Mrs Smith. Charlie has stated that the movie will make them closer. Well, time will only tell with that one, but let’s hope so.
Film Makers Fight Back over Haters of Casting
The team behind the making of the movie has not taken the backlash lying down and after some deeply unpleasant tweets after the casting announcement, the movie producers have responded with dignity and grace.
Tweets to the producer, Dana Brunetti, including one calling him an “idiot” stated he felt he knew what Ben Affleck must have felt like after the public outcry over his casting as the next Superman. One fan stated they hated Brunetti for the casting decision and Dakota’s mother, Melanie Griffiths jumped in on the act and defended the producer. She was as dignified and went to town on the tweeter.
Erik Davis is correct in his response; the contributing editor on the movie stated that it was understandable that a movie with a massive fan base wouldn’t please everyone when it came to casting. He’s right, but there’s no need for nastiness, is there?
Brett Easton Ellis is still bleeding resentment that he wasn’t awarded the scriptwriters job and is busy pouring gas on the blazing fire to keep it all at towering inferno levels and he threw in that Ms James’ first choice was Robert Pattinson. Yes, Brett we know, alright, we know.
Focus Features and Universal have remained zipped on the matter of who was in the running for the roles.
It’s safe to say, the inferno is still burning, surely it will be embers soon though, people do calm down. It’s safe to say, this movie will have fans lined up at the box office on its release.
Universal Studios have announced the casting call for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, it is has been reported. While the rumours have been rife since it was announced there would be a movie of the famous trilogy, speculation has done into overdrive with who will play the lead roles. We’re sceptical about the whole announcement to be honest and find It rather strange that this has happened.
Bosses at Universal have scoured applications from actor’s agents and have now placed the casting out to the general public. This is a surprise announcement given that the list of actors and actresses has been changing by the day of who’s to play the two steamy leads. So the roles are now open and it’s anyone’s guess who will be picked to play the roles.
This must be slightly alarming for the hot favourites, yet this announcement does bring us a step closer to knowing who will be chosen if it’s true These two coveted roles have been waiting to be filled since the trilogy, which has sold over seventy million copies globally, was last summer’s hit read and a film was announced.
So, auditions should soon begin and while the release date appears to change on a regular basis, Fifty Shades fans are becoming increasingly anxious over who will play the leads. Two more contenders have entered the race, Taylor Lautner and his real life girlfriend, Marie Avgeropoulos are new names being flung around media circles. The latest release date has now been announced as August 24th 2014 which has pushed the release date back by two weeks from a previous announcement.
The casting call has been posted on an audition website and this has been confirmed as a legitimate call by sources. Ms James the author has recently been seen on social media site as tweeting that she was unaware when casting would be announced.
It’s a tedious business waiting for this announcement and with the knowledge that we know who is not playing Christian at least, (Ian Somerhalder) then it’s a wild guess who will win the roles.
Oh and we have tried the link to see what happens and it’s closed. We’ve yet to be convinced that this casting call is real and not a wind-up, but at the moment it’s still news as far as we are concerned and we cannot even begin to wonder what is going to come next.
Rumors abound regarding the latest casting picks for the film adaptation of the smash “Fifty Shades of Grey”
Rumors abound regarding the latest casting picks for the film adaptation of the smash Fifty Shades of Grey book trilogy. Fans of the books are excited about seeing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele come to life on the big screen. But there is a downside. With the massive popularity of these characters, it’s a big challenge to select actors who will embody E. L. James’ creations and please die-hard fans. While fans and websites circulate rumors, speculation and suggestions, Universal Studios and the Fifty Shades author are keeping mum. This hasn’t put a damper on fan speculation and campaigns. They are eagerly promoting their favorites via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and anywhere else online that they can invade with their suggestions and opinions.
Most recently, actresses Alexis Biedel and Lyndsy Fonseca and actors Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder are receiving a great deal of attention as potential casting choices. Biedel got her big break as Rory Gilmore in “Gilmore Girls.” The 31 year-old actress has been the recipient of many Teen Choice Awards over the years. Her Facebook fan page demonstrates she’s a favorite for the role of Anastasia. A bit younger, at 26 years of age, Fonseca was a soap opera darling. She played Colleen Carlton on “The Young and the Restless” from 2001 to 2005, and Dylan Mayfair on the nighttime soap, Desperate Housewives from 2006 to 2009. Currently, she’s a series regular on “Nikita”, as Alexandra Udinov, for which she was nominated to receive a Teen Choice Award. One of her “50 Shades” YouTube video teasers with Somerhalder has garnered more than 137,000 views to date. When paired with Bomer, the number jumps to 294,000. The producers of the upcoming movie have indicated that they would prefer a lesser-known actor to fill the role of Christian Grey. At 35 years of age, Bomer is best known for his lead role as Neal Caffrey on cable’s “White Collar.” Openly gay since 2012, the actor is still a fan favorite for sexy Steele. His “Fifty Shades” Facebook page has 135,000 likes, making him an extremely popular choice.
Ian Somerhalder is a popular hottie known for his roles as Boone Carlyle in TV’s “Lost” and Damon Salvatore in “The Vampire Diaries.” The 34 year-old actor has been a favorite to play Grey from the start. He is often linked with Biedel to play the books’ steamy couple on the big screen. But although Somerhalder has a huge fan following, Bomer is still way ahead in popularity online. According to some rumors, director Gus Van Sant shot scene’s to test footage of actor Alex Pettyfer to be considered for the role of Grey in the eagerly awaited film, and both he and the producers are happy with the results. Some say he’s now a lock for the role, but there’s no official confirmation. The 23 year old British actor and model starred in “I Am Number Four” and Beastley“ in theaters, and appeared in 2012’s “Magic Mike.” There’s also talk that Jennifer Lawrences, of “The Hunger Games” fame, will be cast to play opposite Pettyfer. Despite all the speculation, onne thing that is certain – with production not set to start until the spring of 2014, there is plenty of time for a lot more rumors, guesses and suggestions.
Matt Bomer is Christian Grey according to his Fans. This is not hard to miss. – He has the body and the looks and as described in EL James novel, he fits the character Christian Grey. He has the Hot body, looks and those grey eyes. It’s definitely easy to imagine him in those ripped jeans in the red room of pain in the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Ian Somerhalder is one of the other main contenders from the Series Vampire diaries and also has a huge following. Matt Bomer has been pretty cryptic about his part as Christian Grey. In fact, when asked about casting, Bomer outright said he hasn’t even been approached fro the part. However, that hasn’t got us convinced, perhaps he’s just teasing us with his denial.
In an interview, when he was asked about playing Christian Grey, Matt answered with: “Did you ask whether I’ve been approached to play the part? No. I’m incredibly flattered by and grateful for the response, for sure, but yeah, I guess that’s all I can say about that.”
If we were to analyze his response, it’s usually a sign that someone is uncomfortable with answering a question when they repeat it. It’s a classic way of stalling an answer or even a method of avoidance to answer it. Not to mention ending the sentence with “that’s all I can say about that,” since it sounds like Matt has been told what he can and can’t say. It points to the fact Matt is hiding something.
Watch The Video with Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel
This is a fan-made trailer based on EL James’ novel, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. Starring Alexis Bledel (as Anastasia Steele) and Matt Bomer (as Christian Grey)
Fifty Shades of Grey Matt Bomer Alexis Bledel Video
Matt Bomer is the epitome of male beauty, as is Christian Grey, so it’s only natural that fans want to see the White Collar star as the red room of pain owning CEO. He’s been running neck and neck in the fan polls with Ian Somerhalder, but does Matt have what it takes to be Christian Grey? Well, let’s break it down into a few key reasons.
Just take a look at any photo of Matt Bomer, and you can see he “is” Christian Grey. He’s got the perfect, chiseled features, the muscled body and the intense grey eyes. We can definitely picture him getting down and dirty in the red room of pain.
But Christian Grey is more than just a pretty face, he’s a complex soul beneath that hard shell of his. Even E.L. James said that the right actor for the role needs to be able to convey that complexity, so we’re looking for someone who has more than just looks and Matt Bomer is definitely up to the task. His role as Neal Caffrey on the TV series White Collar has demonstrated the Matt can pull off the cool, collected type. Christian may not be a con man, but the two characters do share similar traits. Recently, MStarz revealed that Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder have yet again come out on top for casting polls to play Christian Grey, in The Movie Fifty Shades of Grey.
There is definitely the temptation to cast an unknown or lesser-known actor or actress in the part of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, since this would immerse the viewer more into the world, without having a huge name to distract us. Fifty Shades of Grey is gathering enough hype and publicity, even without a star name on the cast list.
Right now, we only know whom E.L. James doesn’t want on the list and that’s Twilight actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and recently, some rumors have said that she doesn’t want Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford in the part of Christian Grey.
Rumor has it Kelly Marcel has finished the script, and all we need to wait for now is a director for the movie before the studios can finally get casting. We feel the next few months in the world of Fifty Shades of Grey are going to be exciting! So stay tuned – maybe we’ll know who’ll be playing Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele in the next couple of months.
Channing Tatum drops out of the Fifty Shades race
He might have been one of the top favorites for Christian Grey, but it looks like Channing Tatum is backing off from the race for Fifty Shades of Grey.
The Magic Mike star has just announced that he’s looking to take a break from acting to pursue a career in directing. The dream to sit on the chair rather than act in front of the camera isn’t as far off as it might seem, since Tatum has announced that he’s got a variety of projects already lined up.
Even if Channing Tatum were on the acting market where Fifty Shades of Grey was concerned, he came with quite the stipulation attached to his donning the infamous grey tie, since he’d only take up the role if his wife Jenna Dewan could be Anastasia Steele. Does Tatum’s sudden departure from the list of contenders mean that Dewan was turned down the role of Ana or has she refused to take on the part of the submissive college student?
Regardless of his motivations, Tatum has announced that he’ll be taking an “indefinite hiatus from acting starting in 2013,” to direct films along with his producing partner Reid Carolin.
“Reid and I have about three to four ideas that we love that are all in the hopper,” said Tatum, “By the end of next year, we’re going to shut things down and write the first thing we’re going to direct. We’re going to be like, ‘All right, no more acting parts for the minute, let’s take a few and really get caring about that section of our career.’ I love the steps that I’ve taken acting-wise. That has been a wild sort of exploration. But I don’t want to just keep putting directing off for these fun and incredible opportunities.”
There might be the possibility that Channing Tatum’s departure from the acting world has nothing to do with Fifty Shades of Grey, but it has put the “Sexiest man alive” out of the race for the time being, but you never know, he might change his mind and get back in the game. Either way, it’s good news for his rivals on the top of the list, like Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill. Either way, Tatum fans can get their fix in the 2013 releases of White House Down, Side Effects and G.I. Joe 2.
E.L. James might be in Los Angeles, but there is still no news from the studios on the movie adaptation of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. Right now the best we’re going to get on the casting of Christian Grey are the fan polls, which sounds like they’re getting pretty heated lately.
One recent poll has show there is a mix up again between the favorites, where The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder is in the lead on in the Latinos Post poll at 40 percent of the votes, and rival Matt Bomer has abdicated to 28 percent of the votes. While the battle for Christian Grey has essentially been a battle between the two hunks, another hottie has stepped up to compete for the lead and has shaken up the competition. British Henry Cavill might not have the fan base, but the Tudors star and future Superman is upping the gear and is slowly getting recognition. He’s been recognized not only for personifying Edward Cullen when Stephenie Meyer was writing the Twilight Saga, who Christian Grey is based on, but it looks like Henry might also have inspired E.L. James.
It’s easy to see why, since in theory Cavill is the perfect Mr. Grey at 29-years old with blue eyes, a body to die for, 6’1” and striking good looks.
A different kind of poll was taken, and one that is more democratic than the fan girl gushing of previous votes. A popular Twitter account on casting options for Fifty Shades took another survey, with results that turned the Latinos Post poll on its head. Instead of recognizing the actors by their faces, their torsos were the only parts shown in the vote where fans had the choice to pick the hottest body they’d like to see play Christian Grey in the red room of pain.
Matt Bomer might have won admiration for his part as male stripper in Magic Mike, but according to the Fifty Shades Casting poll, did not come out on top. One tweet even said “Matt Bomer is honestly, for me, too old. He’s 35 and will be 40 by the 3rd movie.” Apparently age does come before beauty when we’re talking about casting Christian Grey.
Henry Cavill came out on top with the body that is most suited to Christian Grey, who is also closer in age.
It’s a while away from casting, E.L. James has been doing the rounds in L.A. The author is sick, but she still met up with the production team, Dana Brunetti and Mike De Luca, as well as screenwriter Kelly Marcel. But it looks like we won’t know who Christian is for Christmas.
Fifty Shades of Grey has been the hottest thing on the market for some time now, but it looks like Mr. Grey has a rival on the scene.
A new trilogy “Crossfire” by Sylvia Day has kicked off the iconic Fifty Shades of Grey off its crowning position earlier this week. There is a new young hot billionaire on the scene, Gideon Cross, and he’s about to give Christian Grey a run for his money.
“Crossfire” charts the story between tormented and troubled socialite Eva Tramell who finds a steamy romance with Gideon Cross. The couple might come from dark pasts that try to split the couple of part, but Sylvia Day has made sure that their graphically depicted life doesn’t suffer in the crossfire.
Sylvia Day says the books’ timing is a coincidence with Fifty Shades of Grey, despite having a similar theme and cover.
“It was the right book at the right time,” says Day. Her first book in the trilogy was finished in December 2011, before the Fifty Shades books hit the big time in March 2012.
Sylvia Day is also no E.L. James, since she comes from a different background to the bestselling British author. She used to work as a Russian linguist in the U.S. Army, and unlike Ms. James, is a writer with 18 published erotic novels to her name. She is also the current president of the Romance of Writers of America.
The “Crossfire” series came out of a previous novel Day was working on, where her couples were pulled together due to a shared past. This time she decided the tables would be turned.
“This time, instead of their joint history pulling them together, I wanted to push them apart. I thought it would add conflict, and be more realistic.”
According to Day, her romantic hero Gideon Cross turned into a much darker character than Penguin’s romance would prefer.
“I wasn’t willing to change who he was,” says Sylvia Day, and decided to go the self-publishing route to keep the book the way she wanted. However, with every single publishing house looking for the next Fifty Shades of Grey, Penguin came back to Day with a tempting offer.
While some Fifty Shades fans accuse Sylvia Day as being an E.L. James rip off, Day who has experience in the erotica industry, says otherwise.
“The tortured-billionaire hero has been around for ever,” she says. Day doesn’t believe that her book is competing against E.L. James’s best-selling trilogy, “It’s not as if less people are buying her books because they’re buying mine. Less people are buying her book because they’ve already bought her book.”
So if you can’t wait for the Fifty Shades movie nor for the next installment by E.L. James, then perhaps Crossfire should be added to your reading list.
Considering Dana Brunetti and Mike De Luca have just found a screenwriter, it looks like there won’t be a cast for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie yet in the near future, so while you might hear this or that report of an actor or actress in talks with the studios, chances are they’re a hoax.
Between the popular fan choices for the part of Christian Grey from the usual suspects of Ryan Gosling, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer, but there have been some really strange names connected to the part.
Screech from Saved by the Bell has been considered, but we have no idea why Dustin Diamond has even got on the list, is it the sex tape? Emma Watson isn’t the only Harry Potter actor associated with the movie, Tom Felton has also made the list, which apart from Harry Potter fan fiction lovers, this might not be the ideal combination, even though Emma Watson does hold a soft spot for him. And not to mention Justin Bieber’s joke casting and porn star James Deen’s desire to take on the S&M loving billionaire.
Considering Fifty Shades of Grey began life as a piece of Twilight fan fiction, it makes perfect sense to looks to the franchise for the casting. E.L. James might have ruled out Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but that doesn’t mean that the others are out of the game. Taylor Lautner has been suggested, but he seems more José Rodriguez than Christian Grey, and is perhaps far too young for the role. Kellan Lutz has been suggested, but he’s more suitable for the role of Christian’s brother, Elliot.
Jennifer Lawrence’s boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult might only be 22-years-old, but he could pull off an older character like Christian Grey. He’s an actor who is slowly rising in fame and public presence, so he could very well in the running for the much-coveted role. He began life on the UK TV series Skins before staring in the X-Men: First Class with girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence, and is going to play in the movie Warm Bodies and Jack and the Giant Killer. It might be tough fight to get the role of Christian Grey, but out of the top five bookies’ favorite picks: Ryan Gosling, Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Alexander Skarsgard and Henry Cavill, it looks like Nicholas Hoult might be the next likely actor to get the much desired role of Christian Grey.
More and more rumors circulate the net each day about the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie, each with story more ridiculous than the other. Recent stories have included Justin Bieber telling the world he was approached for a role in the movie – I mean, could you imagine the 18-year-old pop star as the mysterious, sexy and dark 27-year-old Mr. Grey? No, we can’t either. Even Emma Watson supposedly wants back in the game if her big time crush Ryan Gosling gets a part in the movie. Other ridiculous stories include Angelina Jolie wanting the part of Anastasia Steele to porn star James Deen vying for the role. However, while fans all have their own personal favorites, there is only one opinion that should really matter when it comes to the casting of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele – those of the author’s.
E.L. James has been very discrete about her choices for the movie, despite her husband Niall Leonard blabbing about that fan favorite Ryan Gosling was top of the hit list. The author of the bestselling erotic trilogy has said many times that it’s too late to even think about casting, with Universal Studios and Focus Features still looking for a screenwriter and a director, so putting together the talent to star in the movie is far from their minds.
Even though E.L. James told fans it’s early days yet, during her interview on Katie Couric’s new talk show, the writer confessed she’s already got her mind on the perfect Ana Steeles and Christian Greys.“I have three people who could play Christian and I think four who could play Anna, and I’m not going to tell you any of them,” she told the audience at filming. The Fifty Shades of Grey movies have caused a casting discussion like none ever seen before, with fans making their own trailers all over YouTube, some of which have received over 800,000 views.
Right now the top favorites go to Ryan Gosling and Ian Somerhalder, with Henry Cavill, Matt Bomer and Alexander Skarsgard running not too far behind. Christian Bale and Robert Pattinson have also received high votes, but the first is unlikely to want to star in the movie, and in the latter’s case, has been boycotted by E.L. James herself. For the women, the competition is more flexible, with a different beauty out on top each day from Alexis Bledel to Ashley Greene, and even Scarlett Johansson.
If you think the only hot guy in Fifty Shades of Grey who matters is Christian Grey – think again. In the books Christian has a brother, Elliot, who gets it on with Anastasia’s roommate Kate, and is also supposed to be a hottie. So who should be cast as the Grey brothers? Well, real life brothers Chris and Liam Hemsworth seem like a great choice to play Christian and Elliot. With their respective ages, it looks like 22-year-old Liam would take on the role of Christian, and 29-year-old Chris would be cast as Elliot. Liam may be on the young end to pull off 27-year-old Christian Grey, but perhaps he could convince the audience he’s older. However, the brothers’ resemblance might be a problem since Christian and Elliot are not actually related, they’re both adopted. But perhaps producers will overlook this fact, as the Hemworths have been attracting a lot of recognition with Liam’s role in the Hunger Games movie and his older brother Chris’s roles in The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman. If the Hemworths are not right for the role, then who would make a good choice for Elliot Grey? The older Grey brother is described with curly, blonde hair and needs to be played by an actor who can pull this off. Some options include Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles or even The Fast and the Furious actor Paul Walker. Hayden Christensen of Stars Wars fame would also make an excellent choice. Although in the case of Liam Hemsworth, it’s not just his age that act against him, his girlfriend Miley Cyrus has been open about disliking her man filming in the Movie Fifty Shades Of Grey. So perhaps Liam can use that as leverage. Miley has admitted to reading the books, so it’s not such a far fetched theory for the Hannah Montana star to compete for the role of Anastasia Steele. However, I find it hard to believe that Fifty Shades fans would be overjoyed at that casting decision. Right now though, the role of Elliot shouldn’t be ignored. Who do you think would be a good choice for the casting in the role of Christian Grey’s older, nice brother Elliot Grey?
The internet might be full of votes and discussions about who’s going to play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the new Fifty Shades of Grey movie, however what about our favorite couple choices? Books & Review have put together a poll for fans to vote about who’ll play their favorite loving pair. It’s impossible to talk about a Fifty Shades pairing without talking about the Twilight couple – Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Since the Fifty Shades books were based on the Twilight series, it seems only natural that fans want Edward and Bella to take up the roles of Christian and Anastasia; however, E.L. James doesn’t feel the same way. The author of the books has boycotted the casting of Pattinson and Stewart, saying it would be “weird” to have the duo portray her characters.
Next up on the list are Christian Bale and Emilia Clarke. Bale has come on top of the polls as the fan favorite to play Mr. Grey, and we know he definitely has the acting talent to pull it off – especially after his role of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho where Bale played serial killer businessman. He is a controversial choice due to being 10 years too old to play the part. Clarke is a great pick for Anastasia, with the perfect and innocent look to play our shy and submissive Ms. Steele, but with enough spice to her to make the role work. Plus, with her experience in Game of Thrones, she’s not shy about losing her clothes.
Looks wise, Alexandra Daddario and Ian Somerhalder make the perfect combination for Ana and Christian, with both actors hitting the fan favorite in the polls to take on the steamy role. Daddario fits the description to the tee, and Somerhalder does have those intense grey eyes! Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel are another great choice – both look perfect, but they are still a little bit of an unconventional choice. Bledel is in her 30s, so too old to play Anastasia, but with her innocent features and the right make up, she could definitely pull it off. Matt Bomer on the other hand has come under fire for his candidacy in the role due to his sexuality. American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis got into a lot of trouble over his homophobic comments on the actor’s consideration, which has just made him more popular with fans. Other couples that got picked were Henry Cavill and Ashley Greene, and Alexander Skarsgard and Lucy Hale.
